Why isn't Liselotte Pulver higher up in the billing?

It would of thought she deserved higher billing, she was absolutely amazing.

I think she was lower down the list because US audiences would not have known her.... but I agree she is marvellous.....I love the scenes where she takes dictation hahahahahah ...I laugh thinking about them ....

and she is still alive ...and I hope enjoying a happy retirement

She takes what would otherwise have been a very stereotypical role and injects it with fun an personality. And, boy, is she sexy in that slip!

reply

I bet she was pretty sexy out of it, too.

Miss Pulver received an entire screen to herself with an "and" and her name in large letters. Very nice.

I also wondered why she wasn't listed higher up. Lilo may not have been a big name in the US, but she was quite famous in German-speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria).

Yes, but it's without an image like the other main actors have, and only after all the other actor names are listed.

Rome. By all means, Rome.

She was Teri Garr before Teri Garr.

reply

I was tempted to ask "Who's Teri Garr?" but I rather looked her up on IMDB and realized I've seen her a few times. However, I don't see the connection to Lilo.

I seem to remember she got special billing, listed last among the primary stars, but with a big ampersand next to her name. But no umlaut LOL.

A pale imitation of Monroe.

Lilo wasn't, if you look at any other movie of hers. The character she's playing is, just as Billy Wilder wanted her to be.

Names is for tombstones, baby!

Are you kidding? Ordinality does not always equate with star status. Here we have the four main characters introduced, an undifferentiated mass of names and then "and Lilo Pulver" - This tells me to keep an eye out for this person, much like "introducing Unknown Starlet as (significant character)" She certainly got a bigger spotlight than Hannes Lothar, who was key in many scenes.
