Strange theory

Random thought:

This may sound strange and maybe I'm over-analyzing but is Cruella De Ville dying? In the original 101 Dalmatians we have this frail, emaciated woman (with serious smoking habit) and very strange hair who is obsessed with glamour and fashion. When you first see her she's hiding her twig-like body under a thick and heavy coat. Not showing off how thin she is, but actually hiding it, hiding it under a heavy thick fashion accessory that makes her look heavier and keeps her warm. All while seeking out an old friend. Cruella was wreckless beyond logic. Is it possible she was so obsessed and willing to go to such extremes for those fur pelts because she literally had nothing to lose? The woman was dying.

This thought has been brought to you by my random over-analysis of Disney films.

She's not meant to be dying in the book, and I can't imagine they intended it in the film either. she is a greedy and unscrupulous woman who hopes to make a lot of money by selling dalmation fur coats.

reply

I don't think Cruella really wanted to sell the fur coats. IMHO, she wanted the fur coats for her own personal amusement.

if it was just for herself i think one dalmation fur coat would be enough. Her husband is a furrier and i think there was a definite intention to branch out into dalmation fur coats.

reply

With Cruella, one dalmatian fur coat is not enough. She doesn't just like furs, she's obsessed with furs.

It's an interesting theory
