Would Nelly's affair have been treated the same way today?

It's interesting to see this short, and find that the public just turned it's back on Nelly after her illicit affair.

In this day and age, I'd assume that she'd be splashed across tabloid covers, not to mention that her fame might skyrocket (just look at how the media loves to wallow in giving fame to those who seem to not be on the 'straight and narrow').

It would depend entirely on the media's current attention span. If the media thought we needed relief from current events, Nelly would be splashed across every outlet available. If there was something truely important going on, Nelly might get a footnote. Remember who everyone was talking about on September 10, 2001?
