Rush Job?

I read somewhere that Deborah Kerr and the producers of this movie were aware that Cooper was very ill and he had confided to Kerr that he was often in a lot of pain. So they had to hurry with the filming. The article or articles also said that the post-production was put together quickly so that it could be released before Cooper died. Wish I could remember the articles. They were in newspapers or magazines back in the 1960's or 70's. I am certain that at least one article related to first-person conversations between the dying Cooper and author A. E. Hotchner, as reported by Hotchner. Maybe these problems were responsible for the poor results of the movie as released.

Probably yes a rush job. Cooper was operated on for prostate cancer in April, 1960, long before filming began, so he was likely in a lot of pain. He does not look well and I think the sweating which the script may have called for was in fact probably real.
