Amazing underated CLASSIC! Harryhausen at his best

I can't believe there's not more posts on this great film. The music is one of Bernard Herrmann's best scores on film. The special effects are amazing and are pure craftmanship. Remember, this is way before CGI! Harryhausen actually had some more incredible ideas for the film, which were vetoed out by the producers(which included man-eating plants and dinosaurs), a shame because it would have really put this movie on a much higher historic hierarchy, but the movie still delivers amazing visuals. The giant crab and bee are breathtaking. I would rather watch this than Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" any day.

This is a great movie and any time it's on I'll watch it. It's way better than alot of the CGI garbage coming out of hollywood. Harryhausen rules!

I watched this movie last Wed and I was amazed at the special effects; but WHAT was that tentacled sea creature in the snail shell and the huge alien eyes?

Evidently it was a Harryhausen version of an ammonite...except a bit bigger, perhaps (but then, under the influence of the island...?), and, of course, not extinct!

The big crab really stands out in my mind.
