Terrible story, acting, special effects, incredibly boring. I can't think of a single redeeming feature of this movie. I guess it's not as bad as some of the worst Godzilla movies ever made, but it's pretty close. I guess I can't expect much from something little more than a quick cash in on Godzilla's success, but most monster movie fans actually think this movie is good. Well it isn't.
shareI thought it was a decent movie, though the acting wasn't very good. It wasn't just made to cash in on Gojira's success, though; it contained political messages condemning nuclear testing, the US domination over Japan, and exploitation of the environment. Although it used a medium popularized by Gojira, it's a movie all its own with its own story and purpose. Some aspects of the story are a bit silly and one could argue it wasn't executed as well as it could have been, but I think it was a pretty decent movie. I gave it 7/10 on imdb.

I should note, I watched it in the original Japanese version. I haven't seen the American dub but I can imagine it is pretty terrible, as dubbed movies often are, especially in that era.
