Japanese-language lyrics?

What are the Peanuts singing? The words aren’t subtitled on the region-1 DVD. The short two-word riff the group sings when Mosura’'s egg hatches is of particular interest. Peace.

the lyrics are not in Japanese, but Indonesian.

The lack of English subtitles are not negligence,
because no Japanese subtitles are provided in the Japanese version too.
It's not supposed to be understood by audience.

Reportedly, director Ishirô Honda, producer Tomoyuki Tanaka, and screenwriter Shin'ichi Sekizawa wrote the lyrics in Japanese (mostly by Sekizawa),
then translated to Indonesian.

Let me try quick & rough English translation (from Japanese):

Mothra, oh Mothra
Let us show the magic of your lifeforce
Your humble servants are praying
Please rise and show your magical power

Mothra, oh Mothra
With the glory of your lifeforce
Be the guardian to bring peace
And protect us

Peace is our only way to live
Please guide us to everlasting prosperity

I am tempted to change the last line to
"Please guide us to live long and prosper."

It is not an egg; it is a cocoon.

No, the OP is correct. It is an egg from which Mothra hatches -- as a caterpillar. The song is sung by the natives just before Mothra hatches from its egg on Infant Island. Only later, in Tokyo, does it create and then emerge from its cocoon, and the natives' song is not of course heard in that scene.

Oh, yes, I remember. I was mixing up my scenes. I should have keyed on the phrase "...on Infant Island." Thank you for the correction.

No problem, dannieboy. I mistakenly said it was the poster jadow81 when in fact it was the OP who made the initial hatching statement. Guess it's egg on both our faces!
