Montgomery Clift seemed very frail and unstable

Real cowboys are as tough as nails, and MC seemed like a physically weak and unhinged character. I like watching him on the big screen, but he just doesn't really seem like a real cowboy to me. His expressive face and mannerisms would have been better utilized in a psychological drama or murder mystery than this western.
