Thelma Ritter

Dont see anything written about this in the trivia section, or on the
boards, but I'm assuming Ritter really broke her arm and the two lines
referring to it were written in to keep her in the movie. True?

I was thinking the same thing. I was also thinking why does her character leave halfway through? I assumed we'd see her again at some point, but no. It's like they were setting her character up to be important and then replaced her character with Montgomery Clift's. It's as if "there must be four" or something. Also, showing Kevin McCarthy at all was just a tease. I thought he would at least do SOMETHING or have SOME meaning. It was like, "Hey, look. It's Kevin McCarthy. Cool Bye."

The way she is happy that her ex-husband married her friend is priceless. She's the most uncomplicated and happiest character in the whole story. Just love her! She is great in everything she does.

You know, I feel the same way. THAT is unconditional love.

Thelma stole every scene she was in.
