Stock footage from what films?

These an abundence of stock footage used here, anybody care to list some titles from where they came from? Always found this to be a entertaing little film. For the record Roger Corman was VERY close to directing it. Lastly, A.I.P claimed footage was shot worldwide, when in truth much of, if not all the process plates were shot outside Los Angeles.

I wondered the same thing. The African battle scenes were imprseeive but the "cast of thoudands" would have busted the budget for this title.

escalera-2; Just off the top of my head remember three (3) films that scenes were lifted from.

THE FOUR FEATHERS (1939)...Battle Scene Of African Tribe
THAT HAMILTON WOMEN (1941)...Destruction Of The Royal Navy
HENRY V (1944)...Over-flight Of The Thames & London

That's great, xerses13. If you have not already done so, please enter that information into the TRIVIA section as I am sure many come to this page wondering about the same thing.

Thanks, again.

escalera-2; You should check out those films from your Library. They are all three (3) stars (standard rating system) or better.

I'm certain I have seen the 1939 The Four Feathers, but only in the days of my youth and could not have picked out the scenes lifted for Master of the World. Good eye, on your part, good memory.

escalera-2; Then it is WAY past time for you to revisit all of these films!

reply

Ha-ha! You are only right, xerses13. Time's a-wastin'!

Adding to those already suggested, I believe footage from 'Fair Wind To Java' (1952) was also used. I think that the use of those clips make those parts of the film look so phony.
