Hoping For A WW2 Movie

Twas hoping for a good WW2 movie and this does not make the cut. Ya it takes place during Italian & German occupation of France but that is just a back drop. To be honest I found this movie boring because it was just so much a conversation about religious dogma. That said I will say this ... the two leads (Jean-Paul Belmondo and Emmanuelle Riva) had off the charts chemistry!

I am one of those idiots who need more action and less philosophy in my film ... thus said 4/10 for the chemistry.

The film was originally 3 hours and 13 minutes and included more on the war before Melville decided to cut it. He thought the relationship between Barney and Morin was more interesting. Seems he made the right decision. 10/10

Completely agree.
For people who are looking for stories set in WW2, A French Village is an excellent series for that.
