The Music
I liked the "Father Theme" when the old man had the "stalker" after him
Btw there where two american characters, George and Harry, why aren`t they listed because I wonder who/which actors that played these characters

The music felt so different than any other Ozu film...

There is "music" in almost every scene. During several interior scenes for example, when the father visits his mistress, you can hear a very subtle but persistent gong in the background during the entire scene. It adds no emotion to the scene but somehow creates space. Brilliant! There is no one like Ozu.
Especially the music at the end which is so severe and unlike Ozu. Ozu made this film outside of Shochiku, at Toho - and without Saito Kojun who normally scored the films of this period - so perhaps there was some tinkering after Ozu finished work on the film.
