Interesting metaphor about Salome

I noticed this on my last viewing. When Salome runs to the throne during her dance, the scene also includes the giant birdcage. Notice Salome's run, with her skirt fluttering in the air, with the added pillars to the throne room. Her dance reaching her peak, it suggests a bird running into a cage.
Later, Salome, doing her mad Ophelia act (insane either out of guilt for killing John or Antipas finally getting what he wanted from her) is looking at a small bird cage. She looks as trapped as the bird.
