Criterion Blu-ray is fantastic


Deep and rich in the blacks and shadows especially; this is a film that truly exemplifies the strengths of the format. I've owned the 20th Century Fox DVD for years which was just fine, but seeing Criterion's job on it is just... wow.

Good, because the DVD was much too hot -- washed-out (when I turned the contrast down to basically 'zero' it was mostly corrected).

It really is. The black-and-white looks incredible. The scene transitions and all.
