Superb melodrama

It's a shame this noirish drama isn't better known, because it's a powerful statement on faith, redemption and the cynical reality that stands between the two. Don Murray is compelling as the priest, and Keir Dullea shines in his film debut. 8/10 stars from me.

It was much better than I expected. The acting was believable and compelling. To learn it was based on a real person made it that much more interesting. I wonder if that particular story was real or written for the movie. Does anyone know?

It's nice to have had a somewhat personal connection to the subject of the movie. I bet the guys were talking about all kinds of wild subjects.

I wouldn't be surprised. Priests are people too; there are all kinds. I've never known one with a mouth but I don't suppose they'd talk the same way in the presence of girls and young women.
