A similar theme in a 70's tv episode/film

I'd love to identify this film or episode I saw on TV in the 70's.

It featured an American football player who loses his hand/arm in an auto accident, it's replaced with the hand/arm of a freshly executed killer. The hand attempts to strangle his girlfriend while he sleeps on the sofa. It eventually ends with him removing the hand/arm by crashing his car.

Could anyone ID this for me? It's not the Night gallery season 2 episode The Hand of Borgus Weems.
