I seem to remember an early short version of this story shown in the early 1950s. Does anybody remember or know about this?

Okay! I've just found out that it was the heretical movie Challenge to Lassie that was made in 1949 and replaced a skye terrier with the sheep dog Lassie. Did anybody else see this? I enjoyed it but then I was five at the time.

"Challenge to Lassie" was a fine movie. It featured Donald Crisp playing old Jock instead of Mr. Brown, as he does in "Grefriars Bobby".

"It's as red as The Daily Worker and just as sore."
