I Want It

I need this movie in my life, but so far I've only been able to find a Russian DVD that isn't going to be compatible with my player and (expensive!) VHS tapes. Any help? Anyone?

reply

Not that anyone's been to halp, but I've answered my own question- it's out of print.

where are you from? In spain it's just come out on DVD, you can order it on-line ;) if not, I'll try to make a copy of it for you without region code ;)

You can contact www.movielead.com and they can also supply it on VHS or DVD.

I know IMDb wouldn't like this suggsetion, but you could always download it from a torrent tracker and it would have the same quality as an orignal DVD (depending on the release). There are even both the French and English-speaking versions available on the net.

It's streaming on Netflix.

It's airing on 1/14/12 on NYC's PBS station, ch 13, 9pm and again, 12;45am 1/15/12. A bonus is that you get to hear commentary from respected critic Neal Gabler before and after the movie.

I'm recording it on DVD so contact me if you still can't find it. I can probably convert to VHS although I can't imagine anyone not having a DVD player these days (since they're cheaper than VCRs!).

It's also available on Amazon, but I don't know if any of the offerings are in NTSC and Region 0/free.

My wife and I ended up watching this movie totally by accident when our PBS affiliate aired it in lovely Hi-Def this weekend. We couldn't finish watching it but happily it's streaming on Neflix, also in beautiful HD quality. If you've never seen this, or it's been a long time, it's worth seeking out. Fantastic film and gorgeous B&W cinematography. No tacked on happy Hollywood ending here!

I agree. I am so happy that someone else commented that a big plus of the film was no extraneous Happy Hollywood ending. I get tired of everything coming out just peachy, and I think it shows us what children we are (as a society) that we can't watch what happens in real life and be satisfied with that. The tagline of the film, after all, is "This is the way love is... and always will be." I'm going to see if there are similar films to watch referenced on IMDB. I have a feeling they would all be foreign!

Go on amazon.com and buy a portable DVD player that plays all regions. I just bought one for my daughter for Christmas last year. It wasn't THAT expensive. We were able to watch a copy of a Carlos Saura film I have never been able to watch on the U.S. region DVD player. Well worth the money.
