Joby Baker is a comic genius! And Dreamy!

I absolutely adore all of the Gidget films! This one is my favourite, though!
One of the best things about this one...Joby Baker, who plays Judge Hamilton! I think it's funny that, besides James Darren, he's the only actor to appear in all three Gidget films! Of course, in the first Gidget he plays a different character, "Stinky"; and in Hawaiian and Rome he plays Judge.

He cracks me up, and if you ask me he's the most attractive guy out of the bunch...don't get me wrong, Moondoggie is very dreamy, but he's no Judge. Judge is funny and a great guy, and he's pretty darn cute, too! : )

I also love how Judge interacts with Gidget. He's obviously interested in her in Hawaii and they go out together (to Eddie's opening at the Mauana - how do you spell that, anyway?), but I always feel sorry for Judge because he obviously really likes her and she's mostly using him to make Moondoggie jealous! Poor guy. In Gidget Goes to Rome, he's still there, always watching her and talking to her! I love how he's the one who first notices when the "Italian Dreamboat" starts chatting Gidget up - he notices before Jeff! Heehee, the look on his face when he sees her talking to him is so funny!
Also, ever notice how in the Rome one how Judge takes two or three pictures of Gidget for every one of everyone else? Haha.
Yes, I know I overanalyze waaaaaaay too much! It's so fun, though! And the idea of poor Judge holding a torch for Gidget is just too irrestible for my overromantic little heart!

Anyone else notice these things or is it just me? I know, I'm a nutter! : )

Hi Del,
I just read your post, and I know exactly what you meant about Judge acting more jealous over Gidg than Darrin, especially in Rome, I have to admit that I got quite upset at Darrins character in Rome, even more than the others, But Judge is cute and seems like he would have always been there for Gidg when the others were not. I used to get upset (still do) when Darrin would pay no attention to her, And I thought Moondoggie deserved to lose out after the Rome escape.

I wonder if Darrin ever had a crush on Dee or Walley in real life? Have you ever wondered that or what ever happened to Vickie Tricket? I have tried to remember her in any other part and just can't. Of course Sandra Dee and Gidget #1 is and always will be my favorite. Then Deb Walley is and will always be a favorite of mine, I used to have her in about 4 films, Hawiian, and Beach Party, Ski Party, Boys on the Beach, and Then I saw her memorial ( I didn't know she past away with Cancer fairly recently) So sad, she was so sweet. I was not a huge fan of the girl I think it was Cindy Carroll in the Rome Gidget. Were you a Sandra Fan, or just a Gidget fan.
Some ladies and I said we were going to start a three D club, as fans of Sandra Dee, Doris Day & Patty Duke. Ha, it never really stuck but it was a cute thought. Sandra Dee would have had another birthday April 23rd. I recently thought about her.
I bet you are too young to remember when Sally Field had the T.V. Show Gidget???? I used to watch the reruns all the time. I don't remember them live either, but I used to tape them and watch them all the time, they were pretty cute, buit not the movies.

When I went out to L.A. I went to the beach exactly where they filmed the first Gudget, I just had to walk down the steps to the beach where Sandra had in the film. Nice talking to you, AAMD

I love Joby Baker , too! I wonder what ever became of him?

"I told you a million times not to talk to me when I'm doing my lashes"!

Yes, Joby Baker was in the first three Gidget movies.

I just finished watching Gidget Grows Up(1969) on You Tube. Aside from a cute Karen Valentine and a funny Paul Lynde, the TV movie was so downbeat and slow paced! The Gidget TV show(1966-1967) did a better job picking up the slack.
Gidget Goes Hawaiian(1961) feels like showing up to a fun party! I like it even more than the first Gidget(1959)!

I know this is a few years old now, but the movie is on right now and I had to look it up. You're so right...Joby Baker is too adorable. I can still picture him as the bull fighter turned cook - or was it the other way around??? - in "The Dick Van Dyke Show". (I think his character was the cook for a bull fighter.) He was so cute!
