Raft's house

I love the mansion that 'George Raft' is living in in this film. Anyone know the history of it and if it had really belonged to the real Raft? It's stunning.

Raft's house was in Coldwater Canyon. It is still standing today but it's not the house used in the film. A nice two story colonial with a pool in the rear and a pool house. Not really a "mansion". I've driven by it many times. He built it around 1938 for his girlfriend at the time (Virginia Pine) to live in with her daughter. When they broke up , he moved there himself along with his friend Mack Gray. ('Moxie' in the Raft bio pic). His house kind of resembles the house Cary Grant built in the film "Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House". The present owner has done very few, if any, improvements or changes. It basically still looks like it did 70 years ago.

Wow! Thanks BoBo! Interestingly, the mansion used in THIS movie looks like the same one that was used in the biopic The Jayne Mansfield Story (the owner of Jayne's real mansion would only allow a few shots in the back yard, so another house had to be used).
Dammit Carol Sue, where is the vodka?!
