WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED ON DVD???!!!

Since Warner has taken over the rights of all MGM movies,
I would like to ask those morons when in Heaven's name
are they going to release this gem on DVD?? It was printed
on Video ages ago, so why not on DVD with all the extras
available?? The irony of the matter is that this film and
another Vincentte Minnelli gem "Some Came Running" were
released in France by the same Warner Home Video, so why not
in USA????!!!!!

It's not always easy ot assemble good extras for a movie that was shot forty od fifty years ago. Most of the star actors and the crew now having died, and the habit of doing behind-the-scenes fotage being much less common then than now (every new dvd of a current flick seems to have a behind-the-set feature?) I don't think there's a huge lot to improve on the video releases. Much as i like Ingrid Thulin and Glenn Ford here it's not one of their great movies, and the image of occupied France is a bit cardboard. There's been much stronger movies on WW2 around in the past fifteen years ("The Pianist", "Schindler's list", "Rosenstrasse", "Saving private Ryan", "The last days of Sophie Scholl")
