EPIX and EPIX On Demand (free service)
EPIX is having "Shatnerpalooza" (I think they're calling it), which includes "Star Trek" movies with the original lineup, "The Intruder", and other Shatner-starring works, with "The Explosive Generation" among them. I'm watching it now, and I just might tape it.
The protest reminds me of one that occurred at our high school @1965. After a beloved, youthful teacher suggested the novel "Studs Lonigan" to a student, he was suspended, with intent to fire him. My sister was in his class, and the students were determined to express their displeasure at losing a teacher who had seemed especially caring. So, they arranged for the entire sophomore class to stage a silent walkout, and they did it successfully. This was only four years after what is shown in this movie, and I know for a fact that this type of protest occurred for various reasons at a number of schools in the area. Sometimes the protest worked, but it unfortunately failed at our school.
Silent teens: It definitely could be done. Generally well-behaved students mounting a protest: It DID happen.
I find this movie an admirable look at the time, showing how Baby Boomers blossomed into a formidable generation.
