Funniest Bits

This is one of my favourite Jerry Lewis comedies and there are many bits that are great but my favourites are the dubbing session and do-wack-do.

So many great moments! The ones you mentioned always crack me up.

The female performances here stand out for me. Jerry had a way of picking terrific female co-stars. Frequent co-star Kathleen Freeman turns in a great performance without ever uttering a word! Genius!

Iris Adrian's dying scene always slays me too.

Young Renee' Taylor is a great foil for Jerry.

Playboy Playmate of the Month April 1958 Felicia Atkins is just a joy to look at!

Love the 10-second water cooler bit! Makes me laugh out loud every time!

Paramutual Pictures is obviously a spoof of Paramount.

It may not be the funniest, but I love it when Morty is talking to the puppets.

It's a totally different Howard McNear than him as Floyd the Barber.

I tend to enjoy sight gags comedies rather than flat out funny movies.

I was watching this just this morning and I was amazed at how funny it was.

People should take note that this movie is a prime example of the "Froyman... Hoffermiere... Schmegegge... Nice Laaaddyyy!" jokes that Jerry Lewis is known for.

Seriously, whenever you hear an impersonation of Jerry on a TV show or cartoon (Animaniacs is a big example), you always hear something like that. But very few people know where it comes from. Well, this movie is a prime example of it. Especially the part where he's going to the mail room for the first time and he's introduced to a few people with difficult names. LOL!

When I saw the Paramount Arch I was fairly sure what Paramutual stood in for. And then I checked to see that this was made by Paramount themselves.

I totally adore the bits you mentioned but I also have to add the "I'm Drowning" underwater scene! LOL I love this movie!

This is one of the greatest satires of the (old-time) movie business ever, and I'm sure it isn't looked at as such by the ctitical establishment. The fawning lackeys; the nepotism among the top management; the arbitrary way Morty is elevated to star from screw-up; the phoniness at the premiere; and the general air of "do unto others then run."
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"

My favorite is when a man, with his back to the camera, tells a group of kids that arguing never leads to anything. Then as the punchline, we see the man is actually Leo Durocher, who was notorious for arguing with umpires through his baseball career.

I love the scene where the dumb glamour queen and her little dog take poor, clueless Morty home and he crashes straight through her door, LOL. I always wonder whether she threw him out or whether he saw something so bizarro, he went head-first himself! 

I also loooove the scenes where he's freaking out in nervousness around his grumpy boss. His boss calls his employees' names, and Morty's a quaking bundle of nerves, afraid of dealing with this grump. Then his name is finally called and he flies towards the man's desk, shouting "Yeaaaaaaaahhh!"  Anyone who's a fan of this movie knows how freakin' hysterical he was.
