look up for the el cid dvd on dvdbeaver.com, there is brand new edition of the film released by the tohokushinsha corp of japan. its a region 0 ntsc and it has some minor extras. but i still have to wait for a region one copy of the same. ive been waiting for a couple of years already

I know there was a laserdisc with quite a bunch of extra features, but none ever made in to DVD, I think. Some people might be able to transfer that to DVD...

Accodring to Barnes & Noble "El Cid" is currently owned by Disney. Any other publication, particularly a "Region 0" DVD, is mostly likely a pirate.

the digitalbits.com has reported that the weinsteins will be releasing el cid in the very immediate future without any date yet but more probably and more likely this year, late this year

I would not hold my breath. Harvey Weinstein's company is having severe money problems after several flops in a row, and it's debatable if they will have the dough to start a new DVD label.
Until they announce a firm release date for the El Cid DVD,I remain a skeptic.
