I have it on VHS, and the picture and sound on that are - to say the least - crappy. Just wondering whether they really gave the film the once-over before putting it out on DVD.
Or, is it as bad as that first DVD version of Scarface with Al Pacino was?
Now, if only I could track down a copy of the DVD at one of the stores around here. Seems they only want to stock new movies, and not the old classics these days.
Guess I'll have to special order it, or something.
Picked up my El Cid DVD the other day, and watched it yesterday. I had to special order it through HMV, as none of the stores around here bothered to carry it as stock, and HMV seems to be the only place that will do special orders around here any more.
Talk about night and day between the picture and sound quality on the DVD, as opposed to the really crappy quality of the VHS. I was always disappointed by the picture and sound on my VHS copy, and wondered if I'd gotten a bad transfer, or whether they were all so bad.
