I'm A Cartoonist; When Heston Dies, ...

... I will make two cartoons: Heston as Moses waving goodbye (last scene of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS), and Heston as Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar riding off into the sunset (last scene of EL CID).

If you mean this to be a tribute, don't wait for his passing! I enjoyed both films and I have a feeling your work would do him justice as an acknowledgment to the long-standing career of a motion picture icon! I think I have more DVDs in my collection with Charton Heston in the cast than any other actor so I guess he qualifies as one of my favorite actors (even though the film choices are just a coincidence). I think I have even seen his “Moses” used to advertise a Jewish Mortuary. Clearly, the impressions he made are quite lasting.

By all means, go for it!

ps…does Planet of the Apes figure into this? No, never mind. I’m afraid Mr. Heston just created far too many “character” images to fit on one page!

Well? Lets see them!

I haven't forgotten; I will have it on display by next month, as soon as I can figure out how to send jpegs into the Internet.

It took a bit of explaining, but I finally can manage to deliver jpgs through the Internet. I pray that you may like what I drew.

Where are the pics, Son of El Cid?

Type UNDERGROUND.CREATEFORUM.NET
At ICARUS, look for THE CINEMA CITADEL
Look for CHARLTON HESTON, A TRIBUTE
Heston appears as Moses, Judah Ben Hur, Mio Cid Ruy Diaz de Bivar, Sir Thomas More, and Michelangelo Buonarroti.

Thank you! I saw it. Very nice. The depictions really look like Charlton Heston.

I must admit, however, that I preferred the movie version of St. Thomas More (A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS with Paul Scofield) than Charlton's TV version. But the Heston version was also good.

Maybe you can add in the future his character from PLANET OF THE APES or General Gordon in KHARTOUM, fighting off the Sudan warriors in defense of the British fort, but dying in the end.

My favorite of your sketches is the Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar, because it really looks like it came out of the movie.

¡Felicidades! Muy bien hecho.
