French film noir from director Jean-Pierre Melville (who im told was influential to people such as Scorsese, Tarantino and Michael Mann). Film4 is having a season of his films - i hopefully have one recorded and theres two more being shown tonight and tomorrow, if any UK people are interested.
It was pretty good. A couple of events near the start that i wasnt expecting set up a clever but not too convoluted plot and there was a final twist at the end. The last shot was cool too.

The opening wasn't Belmondo walking but rather Reggiani, the guy who played Maurice Faugel, justv getting out of prison.
But leaving details aside, an aweosme film.

blew my mind
i remember sitting up in the cold till like 3am to watch it
as a result i probably didnt take the plot in too well but the mood of this film is fantastic and stylistically its brilliant
plus melville + belmondo cant really go wrong
