Five Minutes to Live or Door-to-Door Maniac?

I see that here on IMDB that this movie is listed as "Door-to-Door Maniac" however I own this movie and it is called "Five Minutes to Live." The title "Five Minutes to Live" is in the credits and the title song of the movie is also called "Five Minutes to Live". Does anyone know whether "Five Minutes to Live" or "Door-to Door Maniac" is the commonly used name for this underrated movie.

reply

It was released under different titles at different times, nothing special about that. I have a dvd of Corrupt Lieutenant with Harvey Keitel vs John Lydon (Johnny Rotten), though the title mainly used in theatres was simply Corrupt. Good movie btw

If one title does not sell they re-issue it under another name, if that happens stay well away. Only good thing about this dvd is it's got Johnny Cash in!

reply

that's for sure. doesn't matter what title they give it, the wife in this movie (Cay Forester) still makes Phylis Diller look HOT! what a hag!

According to filmthreat.com, in this week's bootleg files, "Five Minutes to Live" was the original title. It became "Door to Door Maniac" when reissued by AIP in 1966.

reply

I can't imagine why AIP would retitle it, because "Five Minutes to Live" is positively brilliant. On the other hand, "Door to Door Maniac" has a certain stoopid charm.

reply

A lot of movies have alternate titles when they get re-released. My copy actually shows both titles. Door-to-Door Maniac is on the bottom of the cover.

You mean the movie lied?!

reply

I heard that the Door-to-Door Maniac version released by AIP in 1966 cut the film down a bit while also adding a rape scene which might have been filmed for the original version but dropt and then and reinstated here.

reply

I heard that the original title was "Dead in a Sewer" and John H. Cash was the star on leave from a drunk tank in Georgia.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

reply

Johnny Cash's middle initial was R.

Help stamp out and do away with redundancy

Door-to-Door Maniac sounds better

Too bad it has nothing to do with the actual plot of the movie !
