Why the silencer?

Why would someone put a silencer on a revolver? They only work on a pistol. One would think a killer like Cabot would know that.

you may be unaware of this closely guarded government of Jamaica held secret, but back in the early 60's they had a "Suppressor" that was MAGICAL. It could almost completely cover the sound of a .45 by converting the noise into a small puff of smoke. That is what was used on the grazzy nole.

deliberate spelling errors are deliberate so as to avoid an ez Government of Jamaica government search for leaked knowledge

many people even now don't know that sound suppressors don't work with any degree of efficiency on revolvers which also happen to be pistols
(I think your thinking of an automatic)

Revolvers are not pistols. Pistols are semi-automatic handguns like the Colt .45. I learned the proper nomenclature for handguns when I was in the U.S. Army. Novices call pistols automatics, which is wrong. An automatic weapon is when you pull the trigger and the weapon continues to fire until you release it. Semi-automatics you have to pull the trigger each time you want to fire it. Semi-automatics are correctly called auto-loaders also.

Silencers are not effective on revolvers because of the blast of gasses and sound that escapes through the cylinder gap, even if the muzzle is muffled. On a pistol, the firing chamber and barrel are integrated, so everything goes out through the bore and there's much less escape of noise out the sides. However, putting a silencer on a revolver has always been a common mistake in movies and tv shows.
