I saw Dondi when I was a young boy back in the 60's. I remember also reading the funny papers on Sunday, and included was the strip pf Dondi. I wondered if this was on DVD ot VHS. Seems a lot of people didn't like this movie. It has been a long time since I saw it, and I liked it then. I want to see it again, to see if I would like it still.

shareA friend and I once rented this on VHS, thinking we might have a good laugh at a bad movie. It was sooooooo bad we couldn't get through it. The kid playing Dondi was incredibly annoying.
shareOn one Ohio TV station during the 1960s, this movie was considered such a fine family film it was shown on Christmas morning every year as a special. I was a kid then, so I can't remember much about it. But I was surprised in the 1970s to read all the really harsh comments about it from critics. I wonder what I would think of it today. It must say something about it that it hasn't been heard of since those one-a-year screenings in the 1960s!
On second thought, maybe the station figured no families would be watching TV on Christmas morning anyway and just showed the cheapest movie it could rent.
