...killed her? How did he do that exactly? Did he rape her too, or just kill her?

I think he strangled her.I don't know if he raped her but it looked like he wanted to kiss her when they were struggling.

Strangled, most likely, given the way he later looks at his (clutched) hands. An "I just tried to get her to stop screaming, officer!"-type thing.

The way the woman just walks past the photographer reminds me of the closing scene of 'The Third Man.' She completely ignores him.
