A modern update without changing the plot:A member of a United Nations human rights violations team travels to eastern europe back in the 1980's when all that ethnic cleansing and warfare was going on.There was a tremendous amount of rape by the military of a minority class back then.So you have this American diplomat come across a badly beaten and raped young girl in a Red Cross shelter. He adopts her and brings her to America where she has her child before dying. From there you have this child growup some place in the USA dealing with the problems of teen life and the growing werewolf inside him. This would be similar to Superman growing up in Kansas only this kid is growing into something evil.

I would love to see a remake of it, and id love to direct it. The only thing that puzzles me is how it could be made that would distinguish it from the new WOLFMAN, which is a very cool remake in my opinion. I mean, how would you remake Curse of the Werewolf so it would be different?

Don't get me wrong, i think it could be done and done well. I'm just thinking that it would be very similar to Wolfman. I have thought that about Werewolf of London as well. I'd love to remake that...but it would be so similar to Wolfman. I guess it just seems like any gothic horror werewolf movie is only going to be in the shadow of the aforementioned film, which would eclipse it.

It would obviously need to be shpt differently than Wolfman. Not because Wolfman is bad, I love the way it was shot, but you would wanna make it look different. I'm thinking more gritty probably...less polished. i would set it in about the same time and place as Zoro. I would probably also change the name of it and just call it The Curse or Curse, I don't know. I do think i would avoid anything that involves teenagers.

Could have like Blade a werewolf attack a pregnant woman, passed the curse onto the baby, his lycanthropy didn't manifest until he reached puberty.

This film is just fine as it is, but I would be willing to watch a remake if they made one. I think this movie had a very good story much better than most horror movies nowadays, so it would be great for the story to be retold to modern audiences. Plus, we don't see much Gothic, period horror films nowadays.

IF they remake it I hope they learn from mistakes of Joe Johnson and 'The Wolfman'. Keep it traditional make up, no CGI. I'd love to see what Guillermo Del Toro or Sam Raimi would do with it.

I enjoy this film the way it is, but yes, I think this story could do well in a modern remake.

The problem (as I see it) is that the werewolf "lore" that Universal added to the story has become so embedded in most people's expectations of werewolf stories, that any remake that didn't become more or less a clone of the Universal story would be seen as a rip-off in modern audiences' eyes. (From conversations around the Internet, it seems that even those who consider themselves familiar with the classic monsters are only really familiar with the Universal versions of them. I love the Universal films too, but they don't constitute all there is to be said on the matter.)

That being said, I do think there's a flaw in the story of this one, with Leon turning into a werewolf just because he was the off-spring of a rape and had the effrontery to be born on the birthday of Jesus. I like the idea that being a werewolf isn't necessarily blood-borne (like midichlorians and the Force, apparently), but maybe the Christmas Day thing could do with a bit of a rethink.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
