I haven't seen this yet, but just wondered, what is the monster?

A made up monster or a giant animal?

The 'monster' was hilarious! It looked like an overgrown Brillo pad, with lightbulbs for eyes, and 2 whittled-down carrot sticks for teeth. It is a MUST SEE.

It looks as though it cost about $3.50 altogether.

Definitely! He's right up there with 'The Giant Claw' for the goofiest-looking movie monster award. It was a good choice to put him in the opening credits for 'Malcolm in the Middle'.
