Come September (1961) Quotes

In the section devoted to memorable quotes from this movie, the best quote
has been left out.

There is a scene in which Rock Hudson and Gina Lollobrigida are having an
argument.

Rock: "Lisa, you aren't making any sense!"

Gina: "I don't have to make sense! I'm Italian!"

reply

That is the best quote. I'm going to have to say that from now on because I am an Italian. haha

Why don't you add that to the list of quotes instead of leaving here as a comment?

Near the end when Talbot finally got his lawyer to resolve his arrest, he and his lawyer were talking about women. His lawyer said "aren't all women like that?". And Talbot/Hudson said "Yes. And that is where they have us. There is nothing to replace them with!".

I thought this was a good quote, since Rock Hudson was gay, he had already replaced women:)

I never meant to imply that the film had anything to do with his life. But, knowing he was gay, I thought it was a humorous quote from the film.

I did not mean to offend anyone or make any other connections between Rock Hudson's life and the film. I really just thought it was funny and did not mean it in any other way.

No problem. When I read the quote and comment, it was hard to tell how I meant it. I like the movie and was watching it that day and the quote just sounded funny.

Great movie with great casting.

Thanks. I wasn't so much embarrassed, but surprised that my comment offended someone. Although the replies I responded to are deleted, I think that the person did apologize and explained they were having a bad day or something to that effect. So, it was no problem.

I do tire of always worrying that someone will be offended by something that should offend no one. But, there are those that are looking to be offended and there is very little you can do about it. Just sad that most people seem to be trying to read between the lines and not actually take what you say at face value and what you actually mean. Usually someone that is listening, but not hearing and only trying to figure out what you "really mean", has problems speaking straight and meaning what they say at face value.

I just thought, as you and most people that know Rock Hudson's history, that the quote was extremely funny.

Both ironic and funny (actually made me laugh out loud:), so I guess Ironically Funny.

Agree on the PC extreme. The Imus case was a good example. I saw the comment and thought it was not the smartest comments, but in no way saw it as an attack on anyone, least of all the Rutgers BB Team. But, the media stuck with the lie and did not correct it. Do not mistake my support for Imus in the case as liking his show or loud mouth, but that is what is show was and it had its good points too. Not to throw too much into the mix, but the Duke case was also an example of PC gone too far (and a DA that wanted to get reelected).

Anyway, now that I have gone way off the purpose of this board, thanks. This is not great movie (similar, but much better, than the summer movies of our time).

Thanks again.
