I felt differently. I enjoyed Claudelle Inglish a lot more than both a Summer Place and Peyton Place. I thought those other two were a lot more soap opera-ish than Claudelle Inglish.
Then again, maybe our experiences were fairly similar. I preferred the ones I had not heard anything about. The others, the ones I had heard about, seemed to fall short. I guess I had assumed if they were that well known they must have also been really good. I thought it was because I'm not a fan of Troy Donahue but I think he was in Susan Slade and, from what I remember, I enjoyed that. I also happened to see Return to Peyton Place before I saw Peyton Place so that may have factored into it. I think I enjoyed the sequel better than the original.
By the way, before anyone tells me I don't get it because these movies were made in a different time. I do appreciate the fact the impact of these movies were lost by the time I saw them. When they were released these movies may have been unexpected, shocking, and even scandalous but I heard about them during my lifetime; a time when sex is everywhere so why were people still saying they were so good? That's what I don't get.
Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
