Where can i watch this film?

Does anyone know if it's possible to watch this film online anywhere? If not, does anyone know of any copies released in the UK? I'm really desperate to get hold of a copy so i can reference it in my dissertation. Any pointers would be appreciated.

You can purchase it (and several of Rouch's other films) directly from the Amazon.fr website (France). You will need to view the DVD on a region-free DVD player. No subtitles either.

There is a VHS copy with English subtitles, made by First Run/Icarus Films. But is very expensive, even to rent.

I was able to get a copy from my library via interlibrary loan.

It is a shame this is not available on DVD -- Criterion, hope you are working on adding this title...

Benedictus.

Whilst I would credit the makers of this documentary with their efforts to cram it with an examination of a range of issues social and racial attitudes, philosophical and psychological musings it is ultimately a very tiresome piece which is summed up by one of the participants who describes it as boring. I would have been more interested if the principal focus of it had been the concentration camp survivor Marceline. I couldn't help but think of the brilliance of Michael Apted' Up documentaries when watching this. As an examination of people, their views and beliefs it absolutely blows this out of the water.
