Locked Door Scene (Spoilers)

In the scene towards the end, where Karen (Audrey Hepburn) tries to break in to Martha's (Shirley MacLaine) room, the shadow of the hanging rope is seen before Karen manages to open the door.. So we got what really happened before Karen does.. William Wyler gave the spoiler before the "expected but undesired" end of the character is revealed.. He is like, sorry folks, I know Shirley is one adorable woman but there is no room for hope in this movie..

Also the way Karen couldn't raise her eyes to the ceiling for a moment after she breaks in.. And the look on her face, when she finally did it.. Wow, a well-directed, well-acted, powerful scene..
