Great Movie But...

I rarely give a film a nine but it took a rather brave stand for 1961, so my hat goes off to Wyler for not wussing out on the material. Somebody correct me if It'm wrong, that seems as daring as you could get without actually saying "lesbian." I take it a lot of the mainstream American audience would probably have no clue what a lesbian is so just calling them lovers makes more sense anyway. Still, at least it's more direct than the gay subplot in Ben-Hur.

The part that irritates me was the crappy editing and the conveniently absent-minded aunt. She'd have to be a sociopath to condemn her niece, and good friends to being smeared and financially ruined.
