Fay Bainter Fans Here?

She was nominated for her role in this. Her last great role was as Mary Tyrone in the road company version of Long Day's Journey Into Night - it was said to be MAGNIFICENT. What a great presence she had.

Big Faye Bainter fan here. It always delights me to see her later in her career as Mrs. Tillden in this picture; she gives a helluva performance.

Also love seeing Miriam Hopkins.

Fay should have won an Academy Award for her role in this Movie.

She seemed like a poor woman's Ethel Barrymore, if you ask me. Can't get Ethel, get Bainter.

I'm not very familiar with a lot of her work. I've seen Jezebel but not for decades.

She was very good in this tho, and deserved her recognition. I also thought Miriam Hopkins was the only other good character in this movie.

The rest were ridiculous and dull.

Just watched this again yesterday. Fay was absolutely fantastic.

That scene, where she discovers what her grand daughter has done, and she moves towards the stair case, trips, then gets up again, the look on her face as she regards the little rat: magnificent. You don't need to witness what happens next, her face says it all!

Brilliant.

Right, Miss Bainter really is sweet in many 1930's, 1940's movies - but here, she adds a great deal of dimension - along with Miss Hopkins - to become the twoo best things about this otherwise awful remake.

Hollywood really never, never should destroy very great films - like "These Three" with such horrid remakes like this awful mess.

Miss Hepburn is quite lovely and adequate although not up to form here - and Faye and Miriam are fantastic here - but Martha is a genuine no-talent - and that horrid little Mary ruins the whole thing with here gruesome and cringeworthy overacting.

What a horrid pity to take such a classic film like "These Three" and mess it up big time. - That poor author must still be screaming about it to this day. - Oh and bye the way - James Garner is really hot here - or at least until that awful downbeat ending when they just don't know what to do with him.

Another plus is that Fay Bainter was not recognizable until you look up on IMDb who plays that role - and you're like - You are Kidding!!! - That's Fay????

Otherwise, do not waste your time with this horrid remake - except for Fay, Miriam and James - who all raise your steep opinion of them for salvaging one of the worst films ever - but wait for the wonderous orignial - "These Three" - starring Miriam again - along with Joel McCrea and the rest!

 Mellow Salutations!

Vacuummouse,

I couldn't disagree more. Yes, Audrey Hepburn has had better performances, but she's still terrific here.

I very much enjoyed this movie. 
