R.I.P. James shigeta

James Shigeta passed away at the age of 81.R.I.P.James starred in many movies, but to me this was one ( if not his best )of his brilliant performances

You cannot have it all, where would you put it ?

I agree. This movie was a classic and the acting by Mr Shigeta and Carrol Baker was truly impactful.

I'm enjoying every minute of this movie. James Shigeta is a favorite, and I truly grieved his loss last summer.

Watching this movie now on TCM. Love James Shigeta in this role but Carol Baker ruins it for me otherwise. She just couldn't act and takes away from the scenes they are in. Other than her, this is a great story. Saw the real Gwen on tv many years ago just after her book came out. That's when I learned that the US was warned about Pearl Harbor.

She does seem miscast. I wonder who else they considered.

I'm no expert, but . . . .

I am really enjoying her performance...and the movie.

Can't wait to read the book.

Yes, when we cut oil exports to Japan, we had to expect it.

Total rubbish. Carroll did a fine job. Glad she ruined it for you.

I enjoyed the movie and thought Ms. Baker did a fine job. I've now seen her in several movies and I think she nailed each performance. I think she's a very good who may have been underrated. I only say that because I hadn't heard much about her. I only discovered her from having seen her various movies.

The movie is based on an interesting story but it's important to remember while it may be based on a true story, it is one person's account of her experiences. Also, having seen many fact-based movies, I expect that there were some embellishments and adjustments along the way.

In the movie there's a suggestion that the US was warned but other accounts give a different account. We know Gwen's husband didn't tell her everything that was going on at work. It would be unusual for her to know some of the details that ended up in the movie. It's not even clear they were presented the same way in the book.
