George Peppard

Everyone talks about Audrey Hepburn's inspired performance whilst little is said of George Peppard, who I thought played his role quite well. He reminded me a lot of Robert Redford in appearance and acting style which is certainly no indictment on him whatsoever.

I think George had a few demons. He got some great roles and then fizzled. He was very good in this and HTWWW. As bad as the "A-team" was at least he probably made some real money before he got very ill.

Currently watching this movie on Netflix for 1st time---Mr. Peppard is a doll baby!! Loved him! Going to read up on him here on his page. Have been watching "A-Team" which caused me to watch "BAT". Great actor.

Completely agree. George Peppard gave a great performance which definitely contributes to the film's iconic status. Blake Edwards has gone on record stating Peppard wasn't his first or even second choice to play the leading man. He was suave, charming, genuine, and most importantly had real chemistry with Audrey Hepburn. I can't imagine anyone else doing a better job in this role.

He was almost as pretty as she was

I totally agree, I knew him in A Team when he was old, but boy was he handsome when he was young, beautiful features and those blue eyes!

would have been cool if someone else from the a-team was in this movie too.

His purpose methinks was to be as attractive to women as possible while also being sexually inaccessible.

Today of course such a role would require a romantic scene with a man that would require French kissing.

He did fine, but overall, let's be honest, this was Audrey's film

Peppard must have had a rough time in the late 1960s. Looks like he aged twenty-plus years in the six years between 1966 and 1972.
