His mother was a Southerner. My great grandmother was born in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. Her parents were Irish and they were the only people she saw regularly until she was 9 years old (her father was a timber cutter).

Dad told me she always spoke with an Irish accent. All to do with whom you grow up.
