Susan Hayward's Big Hit

Susan Hayward had a great run of movies after I Want To Live: Woman Obsessed and The Marriage Go Round at 20th and then free lancing at MGM for Ada, and then this smash hit Ross Hunter movie.

Hunter starred many of thee screen's great female stars in his film's such as Susan Hayward, Lana Turner, Doris Day, Deborah Kerr, Myrna Loy, Constance Bennett, Gloria Swanson, Jane Wyman, Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, in his films and all were smash hits for Universal and Hunter.

I'm not surprised that this was a hit. Nevertheless, it was much less glossy than I expected, given how it's usually described. Maybe I just saw a bad print on TCM, but truth is, it looked washed-out rather than lush. I was rather disappointed.
