Has this film become overlooked and forgotten?

Nobody remembers it like other, similar films such as: -
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Mary Poppins

I'm in my fifties, and I have never heard of this Disney Film.

Apparently, 7 months with no response I'm not alone.

If it's on DVD I'm ordering it.

I’m about the same age as you and saw it as a small boy - I was transfixed. I watched it recently with my daughter (who was 6 then) and she enjoyed it too.

Wow, I remember this film and LOVED it way back when. Used to watch it frequently but gosh, I don't think I've seen this film in decades.

I never understood the hate for it even when I was young; it always had low scores and a lot of negative reviews. I may re-watch it again someday if/when I get spare time.

Only reason I knew about it is that my family had the soundtrack LP and I used to stare at the cover when I was very little. (I'm 52) I wanted to see it because of that, but I don't think I ever did. I just got it on blu ray and watched it over the weekend. I can kind of understand why it was forgotten. It wasn't the worst thing ever, but there just wasn't much to it IMO. Some of the visual effects were dazzling at least, the animated dollar signs, the shrinking solution gun, etc. The stop motion animation of the toy soldiers. It had a few funny moments... Roy Bolger doing his mating dance for Mary, Henry Calvin's reaction after he asks "Roderigo- do you realize these are the same gypsies we sold Tom to?" and Roderigo nods happily.
