Watching this movie is like being in a trance

It's a great movie. The whole time I was watching it I felt like I was in a trance or dreaming. I've never seen anything like it. The movie clearly is going for that effect and executes it extremely well. When it was over I snapped out of it and was a little freaked out to be back in the real world!

Agreed! Some of Lynch's films do this also. (Eraserhead and Inland Empire)

LYaM is so beautiful to watch, some of the best camera/lighting work in the history of film.

That's exactly the reaction that I had too. I've seen other movies do that, but none as strongly as this one.

Disagree with the Lynch comparisons. Lynch's more radical films (Eraserhead, IE) are some of the weirdest *beep* out there, but this is another type of bizarre. Not MORE bizarre, just different.

I couldn't agree more.

Maybe you were asleep.

I had to switch off after 35 minutes for a sleep. I'll finish it tonight, I hope.

In a lot of ways, this film reads like a horror movie to me. I agree with the trancelike observation, which is absolutely true. There is something about the film that is legitimately eerie though, and it gets pervasively creepier and more oppressive as it goes on. It's one of the few films that completely bends reality in a way that is truly fascinating and doesn't come off as some arbitrary gimmick.
