Rose Marie appearance--1967 w/ Alan King

In week-long appearance on Password taped in early summer 1967 (w/ co-guest Alan King), Rose and host Allen Ludden repeatedly refer to her upcoming movie role at Universal, but when Ludden repeatedly presses her for details she refuses to name movie, suggesting (oddly) that current title was unacceptable and would likely be changed.

She does, however, explain she'll be playing some sort of saloon girl, indictating this is a western. Anyone know what movie this might have been?

It apparently was never made--at least not with her--and her reluctance to plug it (although she does mention her appearance in an upcoming episode of Universal's The Virginian) makes me wonder whether Ludden got TV role mixed up with a movie part and she was too embarrassed to correct him. Puzzling. Seems like if Ludden had indeed goofed, she'd had corrected him offscreen rather than fend off questions for entire week's taping.

Was she in the Monkees movie "Head"? It seems like she was, I know she was on the TV show at least once.

She was referring to her "Virginian" guest shot. She and Joan Collins played saloon girls who then move west. Allen clearly got a little confused. One has to remember that "The Viriginian" was a 90 minute show so doing an episode was practically the equivalent of doing a movie.
