Carol always became petty and selfish when it came to Wilbur paying attention to Ed. Even when Ed was sick, she griped and snarled at Wilbur. But I guess that was the balance that made the show a hit.

I felt that because she didn't know Mister Ed could talk, she didn't understand why Wilbur was so connected to his horse.

Yeah, a bit of a plot twist. It's generally not women who are jealous of horses.

If I had a wife that looked like Carol Post, I'd be spending much more time in the house than in the barn - talking horse or not. :)
