Was that Batman's Riddler in the neo-Nazi episode (solved)

In the episode where the Prestons had to defend an American neo-Nazi leader whose organization heckled a Jewish parade/rally with shouts of "Hitler had the right idea!," the defendant looked like Batman's (the campy Adam West version) nemesis, The Riddler. Who is that actor>

Frank Gorshin, who played the Riddler is listed in this episode:

I would love to see this series again. So many great actors appeared in this show. Martin Sheen mentioned to me that he got his SAG card for an episode of this series.

Very good! I just wrote a review of this episode. I hope I did it justice. For the life of me, I can't remember how the case was resolved.

Have you seen any of "The Defenders" episodes lately? I watched one at the Museum of Television & Radio in Beverly Hills a couple of years ago. I only had an hour and that was my choice. It starred Jack Klugman as a guy who had been blacklisted.

I really loved that show. I was very young when I was watching it, but I can remember it being a favorite, along with "Perry Mason" and "The Nurses."

I even sent an email to Court TV asking them to show "The Defenders."

Afraid not. At least I am glad to hear that the films are being preserved. I think in those days, series for TV were still shot on safety film and it is possible to produce good copies from them (unlike with video which are sometimes re-used thus erasing the previously recorded material). Problem is, aside from a few sensitive, intellectual and high minded people like us (ahem!), who would be the market for a DVD release of The Defenders episodes?

There hasn't been a time that "Perry Mason" has not been shown somewhere in the last 20 years. We get it on a local station here. I would think that with over 100 episodes produced, it would be a show that some stations would like to show. But I think that it is a little to radical for our local station that shows "Perry Mason." There were a lot of controversial subjects addressed on "The Defenders."

I do have the original - I think it was "Studio One" with Ralph Bellamy and William Shatner.

I purchased several "Naked City" episodes, and I would think the same crowd that bought those would love to get their hands on these shows.

Do I understand that Court TV has the rights to "The Defenders?" If so I'll happily write them, too. My number one rerun wish is to see this show, which I don't think I've ever seen in reruns, except for maybe back in the 60's.

I don't know if Court TV has the rights to "The Defenders," but I would love if you would suggest to them that this show would be a great one to air. I can't understand why no one is showing it these days.

I actually asked Martin Sheen about it, since his very first acting job was an episode of "The Defenders."

BTW, Frank Gorshin appeared in another episode, playing a nightclub impressionist accused of murdering his girlfriend. He just happens to be an Army pal of the younger Preston. It's a tour de force for Gorshin, because while testifying he runs the gamut of personas from Brando to Lionel Barrymore. Early on, he even does a spot-on impression of E.G. Marshall!
