Ep by ep; Have Guns, Will Haggle

We have a 'coloured' character! In this case a deposed dictator buying arms. Great ending gag with the lion (although what's with Steed's shirt?) and the auction scene is fabulous. Also like Tara's race to the rifle, very inventive.

I really liked this one. It had elements of a Cathy Gale episode, with the realistic selling of weapons. No shrinking rays, positive negative men or Cybernauts in site. This was produced before Brian Clemens was asked back and it does have a different feel. This shows that keeping Tara a brunette was the right choice and not that horrible blonde. Tara is styled very attractively with her Tartan miniskirt. One of her hottest looks. Originally she was put in a pink horrible puffy coat with the blonde hair. Ick! Good to see Steed in the Bentley as well. There is a black character, as this person was cast under John Bryce, and considering he is a representative of an African nation, it blends into the story. But yes, very irregular for an Avengers episode. Adrianna was excellent as well as her brother. There was a good dynamic. Tara is clever and smart in the gun duel. Steed's horrible shirts are again the encroaching 70s. He would never have worn such garish attire in Mrs. Peel episodes! Overall, I quite liked this one.
