Likeable Leads, But Trite Plot

You really can't go wrong with a cast that includes Tony Curtis, Dean Martin, and Janet Leigh...almost. This movie started off with a pretty funny premise. David (Curtis) is a chemistry professor who is caught by his wife Ann (Leigh) kissing a pretty co-ed. Ann threatens divorce until David's friend Mike (Martin) comes up with the plan to convince Ann, David is an undercover FBI agent. The ruse works until the real FBI gets wind of it and decides to use the two to foil another real world spy ring.

The plot was working right up until David and Mike go on a "mission" with two airheaded blondes. This movie had real comedic potential, but it got a bit too far afield with the reality for my taste. Curtis and Martin were fine as they played their roles as a couple of warm blooded males. Ann starts out as an independent, headstrong woman and then turns into a simpering, air head. Even when she thinks her husband is really an FBI agent, she can't keep her mouth shut and blabs all kinds of supposedly secret information to anyone who will listen. Had David been a real agent, his wife would have gotten him killed and/or fired.

The coupling of Martin and Curtis was great. That group of actors/entertainers from the 1960s were fun to watch. I just wish they had tried to play it a bit straighter and kept the slapstick to a minimum.

My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.
